Milling

Blaser tests every chip in detail with unique test strategy

The research and development team at Blaser Swisslube, a Swiss expert in metalworking fluids, set about planning and implementing an idea to capture a machining process, chip formation and the behavior of the metalworking fluid more precisely than ever before through photos and videos. The idea came about as part of a joint project with the renowned ETH Zurich.

High Feed SP Milling System

Packed with versatility, one High Feed SP tool handles a complete range of high feed milling operations and materials. The tool optimizes such operations as copy milling, ramping, pocketing, face milling and plunging to further reduce tooling inventories. Users optimize milling performance while eliminating the need to switch among numerous tools to implement various machining strategies and part materials.

CoroMill 316

Beyond shoulder and face milling, the end mills can also be used for pocket milling, helical interpolation, ramping and slot milling. The CoroMill 316 is part of the Sandvik Coromant Optimized Solutions offering in the company’s solid round tools range.

CoroMill MF80

Based on a technology platform similar to the existing CoroMill® 345, this new milling concept offers a 40 percent lighter cutter body with shim protection and a high number of inserts for secure and stable machining, even in vibration-prone overhang applications. The 89.5-degree approach angle enables the multi-edge cutter to work close to the fixture, which not only greatly improves machine utilization, but also ensures a longer tool life with less scrap.

CoroMill Dura

What makes the CoroMill Dura stand out compared to the former versatile concept and competitor end mills is its WhisperKut technology. The CoroMill Dura is available from two to seven flutes with 1-4×D cutting length, with and without a chip divider. The end mills can be reconditioned up to three times to original specifications.

Helical SN8-13 Milling System

Built for difficult applications involving ISO P, M, K and S materials, the cutters offer application-specific sub- family designs featuring left or right-hand helixes, half- or full-effective teeth options, two front insert and many radii choices for long tool life and maximum chip evacuation. Reliable and user-friendly, the Helical SN8-13 also eliminates incorrect indexing of front and helix inserts, reducing operator error.

TC620 Supreme

The TC620 Supreme thread milling cutters utilize patent-pending Walter DeVibe technology with an anti-vibration land to effectively suppress vibrations and allow higher cutting parameters, while contributing to other TC620 Supreme advantages like a high level of process reliability and easy handling due to extremely infrequent radius correction.

X-Head Quick-Change Milling Head System

Milling heads mount to a variety of available shank lengths for even greater versatility, with short and long- reach capability for a variety of overhang lengths. Head changes only require a simple turn of a wrench, eliminating the need to remove the holder from the machine to change the cutter. Users also eliminate the need to reset tool lengths thanks to a secure and reliable connection that provides exchange accuracies within 50 microns.

ECO Suite Plus

ECO suite plus builds upon the prior technology releases by providing management and control of specific machine operations and peripheral devices during the machining process and in idle mode. Both the Thermo-Friendly Concept and ECO technologies are powered by Okuma’s proprietary OSP control, a Windows-based, open-architecture platform which offers maximum machining capabilities to users.
