Horn has revised the clamping of the S224 type indexable insert for use in Swiss-type lathes. In order not to have to remove the holder for indexing or changing the insert, the Horn engineers relocated the clamping screw to the side. Clamping now takes place via a camshaft. This allows the insert to be clamped quickly at either side of the holder without having to remove it.

The measurement targets are distributed uniformly at intervals of approx. 100 millimetres across the entire Target-Net. The Target-Net itself measures 1500 x 2500 millimetres and has in total  approx. 300 measurement targets. Thanks to the high measurement target density, several scans can be performed very quickly from different perspectives.

The VTS SF-45 acquires a variety of tool dimensions in a single instant using the principle of shadow projection where an illuminated objects projects its shadow onto the camera. These measurements include tool length, static and dynamic tool diameter, the tool run-out and cutting-edge radius. With a resolution of 0.1 µm, the VTS enables measurement of tools with diameters as small as 10 µm with repeatability of 0.2 µm, providing a higher level of accuracy than touch probes or lasers in small applications.

The printer features two 200-watt lasers and a multiplate option, which allow users to run multiple builds without operator intervention by automatically exchanging the build plate. Users can stack up to four build plates on top of each other in the build cylinder, and the system prints components on them one after the other.

CT-data analysis software for inspection has a quality role in nearly every industry that has critical parts and processes that need monitoring for faults and variations. These include automotive, aerospace and electronics, among others. Volume Graphics’ software tracks, analyses, and visualizes porosity/inclusions, delaminations, fiber or grain orientations, deformations and areas of low density and weakness. It is used to compare the “as-designed” and “as-manufactured” product to ensure compliance to specifications and intended performance.

The deep learning technology for object detection is now also available in MERLIC. The “Find Object” tool locates trained object classes and identifies them with a surrounding rectangle (bounding box). Touching or partially overlapping objects are also separated, which allows counting of objects. Labeling and training are possible without programming knowledge using the free MVTec Deep Learning Tool. The trained network can then be loaded into MERLIC and used with a single click.

DrillForceMeister incorporates a unique head-shank coupling interface that provides exceptional reliability when drilling relatively large diameter holes from 20 millimeters to 41 millimeters. When clamped, the drill head interlocks with the shank at larger contact areas, promoting high hole precisions and qualities. Furthermore, with the SMF flat-edged drill head, drilling operations on inclined or curved surfaces or on thin walls susceptible to vibration are made easier and more efficient.
