Greenleaf Corp.’s XSYTIN-1 is a phase-toughened ceramic insert grade that resists wear and thermal shock. It is for milling, turning and grooving heat-resistant superalloys, cast iron, nodular iron, ductile iron, steel and stainless steel at extreme feed rates and high cutting speeds, according to the company. It is suitable for interrupted cuts, scale removal, roughing, semifinishing and finishing.

Heimatec Inc.’s line of 1:4 live tool speed multipliers enable tools to reach a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm. They are available for all popular live tool lathes. The speed multipliers are provided as axial or radial drilling and milling heads, with either internal or external coolant. Mounting configurations suit virtually any machine tool turret setup, including VDI and BMT sizes.

FMT beveling tools from Fastenal Co. are for cutting inside and outside bevels, pipe beveling, countersinking and generating radius paint edges. Sandvik Coromant Co. says the GC4305-grade insert maximizes metal-removal rates, shortens processing times and enhances component quality when turning steel. It is made of a heat-resistant cutting material that is suitable for dry machining, which is ideal for automotive part manufacturers that seek to avoid the stresses tools experience as a result of temperature fluctuations. The insert features the company’s wear-resistant Inveio coating.

Okuma America, Charlotte, N.C., recently introduced the MU-4000V, a 5-axis vertical machining center said to be ideal for 5-axis multi-sided machining within the aerospace and die/mold industries.
