Workholding

Pyramid Workholding Platform

The new Kurt Pyramid workholding platform is designed to attach three Kurt vises for 5-axis machining multiple parts in one load. The 45-degree vise mounting surface is positioned so each vise provides maximum access to all machined surfaces and allows for enhanced spindle and cutting tool clearance.

Nontraditional workholding solutions at BIG KAISER

Metal working facilities constantly strive to reduce machining times, and saving a  minute or two here or there can really add up. According to John Zaya, workholding product manager for Big Kaiser, time savings can be achieved using flexible workholding systems. This is especially true for companies that have a high part mix, low volume, and when parts might be tall, large, or oddly shaped.

Full Grip Pie Jaws

Dillon full grip jaws, machined from 6061 extruded aluminum for increased strength, are now available up to 28-inches in diameter. Machining from bar stock eliminates the porosity inherent with large-diameter aluminum castings, providing a stronger and more reliable workholding product.

Power Bar Modular Platform

The Power Bar from Mitee-Bite Products LLC is a modular platform designed to elevate your capabilities with some of the strongest clamps on the market. Utilizing any of the DK model OK-Vise wedge clamps or the largest Mitee-Bite Pitbull clamps, you have the options to elevate your workpiece for mill- and drill-through operations or forcing your parts onto the machine table.

Automated Part Clamping

When an equipment manufacturer wanted to automate part clamping for a high-volume casting to be machined in a robot attended machining cell they turned to Kurt Workholding custom engineers for support. After reviewing the initial machining cell and part requirements, Kurt engineers drew upon past workholding experience and designs along with some new developing ideas in air powering workholding systems.
