Paser 4

April 01, 2010

Flow International Corp. has announced the launch of the Paser 4 Ultra Component Life (UCL) abrasive waterjet cutting head. The Paser 4 UCL improves cutting performance and lowers operating cost, according to the company. Since its introduction in 1984, the Paser line has become a popular waterjet component package. Flow's waterjet expertise, extensive testing and R&D have led to the latest abrasivejet enhancement: the Paser 4 UCL cutting head with a low-profile water on/off valve. Whether the Flow pump is rated at 40,000 psi, 60,000 psi or even 94,000 psi, Flow says Paser 4 cutting technology delivers optimal cut quality, speed and operating efficiency. Orifice life is increased 3 to 5 times while abrasive consumption is reduced, resulting in substantial savings. Offered as an upgrade on most waterjet machines, the Paser 4 is available with a variety of orifice and mixing tube combinations to match today's common applications.

    abrasive waterjet ( AWJ)

System that uses high-pressure waterjets in combination with a slurry of fine abrasive grains to machine materials. See waterjet cutting.

  • waterjet cutting

    waterjet cutting

Fine, high-pressure (up to 50,000 psi or greater), high-velocity jet of water directed by a small nozzle to cut material. Velocity of the stream can exceed twice the speed of sound. Nozzle opening ranges from between 0.004" to 0.016" (0.l0mm to 0.41mm), producing a very narrow kerf. See AWJ, abrasive waterjet.
