Mazak IMTS 2024 Booth Visit

Jason Taylor, Mazak's Product Manager, highlights the EZ Loader 20, a compact automation system featuring a collaborative robot with a 20 kg payload capacity. Designed for efficient loading and unloading, it integrates a vision sensor for precise operations and supports high-mix workpiece production. He also presents the VC-EZ 20X vertical machining center, equipped with a CAT 40 spindle capable of 12,000 RPM, ideal for precise and versatile milling tasks.

The 30-tool magazine provides flexibility for milling and drilling applications. The machine accommodates BT-40 shanks and includes a precision cam drive that achieves ±0.08-mm (0.0032") positioning accuracy. The tool change arm is waterproof, preventing coolant from entering the arm during use. Users also have the option of adding a pallet changer to avoid the downtime associated with part loading and unloading.

All Profilator machines are designed for dry machining. This brings several advantages such as: an optimized machining area, no coolant and no coolant mist.  The inverted, vertical spindle(s) allow free chip fall into the central chip conveyor at the bottom, while no coolant means no washing of the workpiece is required and the lack of coolant mist signifies an extraction system isn’t needed.

The DVF 4000 comes standard with a 15,000 r/min direct coupled spindle, powered by a 24.8 hp (18.5 kW) motor that generates 87.1 ft-lbs (118 Nm) of torque. A FANUC 31i-B5 Plus control makes full 5-axis simultaneous control possible, giving complete contouring capabilities. It features a 400 mm diameter built-in rotary table with a zero-backlash roller gear cam design for superior rigidity and speed.
