HARVITM Ultra 8X Helical Milling Cutter

Imagine burying a roughing tool in a block of Ti-6Al-4V titanium and ripping away more than 1,000 cm3 (61 cubic inches) of material in just one minute. If you’d been at a recent test of Kennametal’s new HARVITM Ultra 8X helical milling cutter, you’d have seen exactly that. Using a 95 mm (3.74 in.) axial depth of cut, 20 mm (0.78 in.) radially, and a feed rate of 423 mm/min. (16.65 ipm), the 80 mm (3.15 in.) diameter HARVI Ultra 8X plowed through this difficult aerospace superalloy for nearly 3 minutes straight without flinching.

DA110 Perform Drill

The DA110 Perform drill from Walter can be used universally and cost-effectively for a wide range of materials. It delivers maximum accuracy thanks to its precision-ground surfaces and a tip geometry that has been engineered for optimum centering accuracy, while keeping production costs as a primary consideration.

HRT1000 and HRT100 Rotary Tables

Rotary tables are ideal for machining multiple sides of a part in a single setup or for machining many parts on a multiple-sided fixture. But handling very large or very small parts can prove challenging without the correct size rotary. The HRT1000 and HRT100 rotary tables from Haas Automation Inc. cover both ends of the size spectrum, providing high-precision 4th-axis positioning and simultaneous 4-axis motion for extra-large and extra-small parts.

WRSP60 High-Accuracy Scanning Probes

Marposs has announced the availability of its new WRSP60 high-accuracy scanning probes for checking part profiles directly on machining centers and milling machines in real time. Parts can be checked for defects without being transferred to a measurement lab, eliminating the need to reload and reposition the part for any necessary reworking, improving the process and optimizing cycle time.

M4258 Modular Helical Milling Cutter

The M4258 modular helical milling cutter from Walter, the most recent addition to its M4000 family of high-performance helical milling cutters, brings cost efficiency and excellent process reliability to slot milling, and can be used for ramping, pocket milling, shoulder milling and circular interpolation as well. Versatility also extends to materials, handling ISO material groups P, M, K and S.

Sprint Z3 Machining Head

Amazing, but true: Over one and a half decades ago, many engineering companies were dreaming of parallel kinematic drives that would be able to replace conventional fork heads in machine tools after a brief period of euphoria, involving a few conferences, plenty of journal articles and several tentative attempts with prototypes and machines, things settled down again. Only one machine tool manufacturer reportedly had any success, working in close conjunction with an innovative aircraft producer to come up with a great three-legged idea.
