The new 4TEX drill from Allied Machine & Engineering is engineered to deliver optimal chip formation and evacuation and provide higher penetration rates than standard twist drills for light-duty machines. This indexable insert drill excels in applications with interrupted cuts or when drilling on angled surfaces. 4TEX is also ideal for making shallow 2xD, 3xD, and 4xD holes in the 12 - 47 mm (.472” – 1.850”) range.

Walter has introduced the D3120, an indexable insert drill built to provide trouble-free drilling in virtually all conditions. It features square positive indexable inserts with four cutting edges, enabling it to reduce cost per cutting edge.

Walter has introduced the DC150 Perform 5 × Dc drill, a versatile and cost-effective solid-carbide drill that can be used universally with all materials and with a broad range of workpieces. Like the others in the DC150 Perform Line, the new drill is suitable for use anywhere small and medium batch sizes need to be machined with high precision and process reliability coupled with a high level of cost efficiency and wide applicability.

Two new drills optimized for drilling aluminum automotive parts have been developed by Sandvik Coromant. Suitable for the machining of components in medium-to-large volumes, CoroDrill 400 and CoroDrill 430 deliver high throughput and low costs, as well as extended tool life and enhanced process security.

The Dormer Force M assortment of drills provide a high level of productivity specifically for drilling stainless steel (or ISO-M) materials while operating consistently across a diverse variety of machines and conditions. This makes them suitable for high production, general engineering and subcontract environments.

Screw unions on thin walled materials require complex additional operations like e.g. the welding on of a nut. The so called flow drilling process can form the thread directly in the arising passage, thereby making this additional operation unnecessary. Suhner and Flowdrill are collaborating in this field of specialized technology. Thermal flow drilling uses a Flowdrill tool to produce passages several times the thickness of the thin walled material.

Sandvik Coromant is releasing three new grades for its popular CoroDrill 870 exchangeable-tip drill. GC4344, GC3334 and GC2334 have been developed to offer significant tool life improvements and more predictable wear patterns, all while maintaining the high penetration rates and productivity for which the concept is renowned.
