All Sensors Corp. has announced a brand new low-pressure sensor, the BLC series. 4D Technology today announced the 4D InSpec Surface Gauge, a handheld, noncontact instrument that measures precision machined surface defects and features with micrometer-level resolution. The 4D InSpec employs 4D’s patented technology, which enables rapid measurements that are unaffected by vibration present in most manufacturing environments.

Johnson Gage offers the JCR runout and concentricity inspection system for verification of cylindrical runout. The JCR can be used stand-alone or with an optical comparator for verification of geometries in cutting tool product.

HEIDENHAIN announces the introduction of the new and improved +/-1um accurate ACANTO 1217 and 1218 length gages. Photron Inc. introduces the PhotoCam SpeederV2. The portable, standalone high-speed camera system is specially designed for production fault-finding. Intuitive and easy to use, the camera system allows workers to quickly view and identify production errors on the integrated 7-inch LCD remote touch screen, without the need for a computer or network infrastructure.

Conventional profilometry scans sample surfaces from a single, fixed direction. This is only appropriate for measuring sufficiently flat samples, as opposed to cylindrical shapes that require a precise 360° rotation. For an application such as characterizing the helical cutting edge of a tool, a conventional machine would need multiple scans from different angles of the entire part, as well as significant post scan data manipulation. This is often too time consuming for QC applications that only require measurements from very specific regions. NANOVEA’S rotational stage solves this problem with simultaneous motion control of the lateral and rotational axes.
