Trofeo Series

March 01, 2010

Eurotech Elite's new Trofeo series offers a design that delivers efficient and fast production of complex components, using live tools, C-axis and Y-axis. This high precision turn/mill center has up to 11-axes with dual turret and dual spindle. The Trofeo series provides up to 192 cutting tools for machining complex, precise parts and up to 48 live tools for milling operations. A redesigned layout eliminates "chip shelfs" found on most dual turret machines, according to the company. The machine was designed from the ground up for speed with gap elimination, Eurotech's tooling system (EGS), indexing on the fly, elimination of dwell times, fast pick-off speeds, zero wait for C-axis engagement on live tool machines, ClearShift 2-axis programmable subspindle to eliminate interference and decrease cycle times, programmable 2-axis servodriven parts gantry and conveyor system, built-in/no add-on automation. More than $60,000 in options plus many productive machine features are included, such as 2-axis Programmable automatic parts-catcher for main and subspindles (no changeover) and Fanuc 31i-T Series three channel control.

Related Glossary Terms

  • gang cutting ( milling)

    gang cutting ( milling)

Machining with several cutters mounted on a single arbor, generally for simultaneous cutting.

  • milling

    milling

Machining operation in which metal or other material is removed by applying power to a rotating cutter. In vertical milling, the cutting tool is mounted vertically on the spindle. In horizontal milling, the cutting tool is mounted horizontally, either directly on the spindle or on an arbor. Horizontal milling is further broken down into conventional milling, where the cutter rotates opposite the direction of feed, or “up” into the workpiece; and climb milling, where the cutter rotates in the direction of feed, or “down” into the workpiece. Milling operations include plane or surface milling, endmilling, facemilling, angle milling, form milling and profiling.
