NanoFeed Hi-Feed Milling Performance for Small Parts

Ingersoll’s New NanoFeed technology provides exceptional hi-feed milling performance for machining of miniature components and smaller part features. NanoFeed is a 20° hi-feed indexable insert design that will replace smaller diameter solid carbide end mills in many applications and offer great economy! Inserts have been designed with pressed-in coolant channels, directing coolant or air directly to the cutting edge for maximizing tool life! Inserts also have backdraft side clearance for straight-wall milling capability. Available in diameters of 6mm & 8mm with steel or carbide shank options, NanoFeed will reduce cycle times, increase productivity and help to reduce solid carbide usage.

Related Glossary Terms

  • clearance

    clearance

Space provided behind a tool’s land or relief to prevent rubbing and subsequent premature deterioration of the tool. See land; relief.

  • coolant

    coolant

Fluid that reduces temperature buildup at the tool/workpiece interface during machining. Normally takes the form of a liquid such as soluble or chemical mixtures (semisynthetic, synthetic) but can be pressurized air or other gas. Because of water’s ability to absorb great quantities of heat, it is widely used as a coolant and vehicle for various cutting compounds, with the water-to-compound ratio varying with the machining task. See cutting fluid; semisynthetic cutting fluid; soluble-oil cutting fluid; synthetic cutting fluid.

  • gang cutting ( milling)

    gang cutting ( milling)

Machining with several cutters mounted on a single arbor, generally for simultaneous cutting.

  • indexable insert

    indexable insert

Replaceable tool that clamps into a tool body, drill, mill or other cutter body designed to accommodate inserts. Most inserts are made of cemented carbide. Often they are coated with a hard material. Other insert materials are ceramic, cermet, polycrystalline cubic boron nitride and polycrystalline diamond. The insert is used until dull, then indexed, or turned, to expose a fresh cutting edge. When the entire insert is dull, it is usually discarded. Some inserts can be resharpened.

  • milling

    milling

Machining operation in which metal or other material is removed by applying power to a rotating cutter. In vertical milling, the cutting tool is mounted vertically on the spindle. In horizontal milling, the cutting tool is mounted horizontally, either directly on the spindle or on an arbor. Horizontal milling is further broken down into conventional milling, where the cutter rotates opposite the direction of feed, or “up” into the workpiece; and climb milling, where the cutter rotates in the direction of feed, or “down” into the workpiece. Milling operations include plane or surface milling, endmilling, facemilling, angle milling, form milling and profiling.

  • shank

    shank

Main body of a tool; the portion of a drill or similar end-held tool that fits into a collet, chuck or similar mounting device.

In addition to operating on narrow grooving on typical CNC lathes, the new V-shaped TDMV inserts are suitable with a wide range of applications on Swiss automatic lathes, with a concentration on miniature product machining. The V-shaped TDMV insert line is a multi-purpose option and the optimal…

Tangentially mounted inserts allow for smooth uniform chip formation at high feed rates. The patented end-station fully supports the insert for reliable operation and unobstructed chip evacuation. End station inserts are available from .031 to .250 corner radius with zero cutter body modifications.

The insert pocket is designed with dovetailed seating over a large contact area, which extends cutting edge life, cutter body life cycle, stability, and support under the most aggressive cutting conditions. Inserts are offered in 2 styles: economical pressed complete and a precision ground profile.

CeraSFeed features two unique double-sided indexable insert styles: LNXF09 and TNXN12. LNXF09 offers a 1.5mm depth of cut and 4 cutting edges. TNXN12 offers a 2.5mm depth of cut and 6 cutting edges. Both inserts are offered in grade IN76N, a highly engineered SiAlON ceramic grade having excellent…

Key features include four insert sizes, grades for all materials, three different cutting-edge preparation options, super strong radius high feed insert geometry, fine and coarse pitch cutters. The 4mm, 6mm, 9mm and 11mm inserts offer depth of cut ranges of .5mm, 1mm, 1.5mm and 2mm, respectively.

It represents a highly productive alternative to conventional turning where 80° & 35° corner inserts are fed in the same direction, and instead utilizes all 4 directions available on conventional 2 axis lathe (+Z, -Z, +X, -X) to maximize material removal.  The double-sided positive SuperTurnZ…

TwistSFeed reduces costs by improving tool life as well as achieving higher productivity due to multiple flutes along with new IN2205 coating designed for steel and cast iron applications. The clamping mechanism allows for the simple replacement of drill tips as well as accommodating multiple tip…
