Diamond and Borazon Grinding Pins

August 04, 2016

Titan Tool Supply Inc. announces the introduction of a line of micro diamond and borazon grinding pins designed to meet an increasing demand for extremely small, precision ID grinding. The grinding pins, starting at a 0.016” diameter, are on a carbide shank, which provides extra strength and precision. The working ends of the pins are coated with either diamond or borazon, using a 500/600 grit on the 0.016”-dia. model and 325/400 grit on the 0.020” and 0.024” diameters.

According to Titan’s president, Frank Menza, “We have been receiving more demands from our regular micro finishing tool customers, especially in the ceramics and electronics industries, for grinding pins that can be used in very small openings.” He expects to find applications in other industries such as mold, tool and die making.

  • ceramics

    ceramics

Cutting tool materials based on aluminum oxide and silicon nitride. Ceramic tools can withstand higher cutting speeds than cemented carbide tools when machining hardened steels, cast irons and high-temperature alloys.

  • finishing tool

    finishing tool

Tool, belt, wheel or other cutting implement that completes the final, precision machining step/cut on a workpiece. Often takes the form of a grinding, honing, lapping or polishing tool. See roughing cutter.

  • grinding

    grinding

Machining operation in which material is removed from the workpiece by a powered abrasive wheel, stone, belt, paste, sheet, compound, slurry, etc. Takes various forms: surface grinding (creates flat and/or squared surfaces); cylindrical grinding (for external cylindrical and tapered shapes, fillets, undercuts, etc.); centerless grinding; chamfering; thread and form grinding; tool and cutter grinding; offhand grinding; lapping and polishing (grinding with extremely fine grits to create ultrasmooth surfaces); honing; and disc grinding.

  • inner diameter ( ID)

    inner diameter ( ID)

Dimension that defines the inside diameter of a cavity or hole. See OD, outer diameter.

  • shank

    shank

Main body of a tool; the portion of a drill or similar end-held tool that fits into a collet, chuck or similar mounting device.
