Garant Xtric Centering Vice With Center Jaw

Last year the Hoffmann Group presented the Garant Xtric centering vice with clamping jaw quick-change system in line with the “Click&Clamp” principle. From April 2020, the small powerhouse, which acts directly on the component with up to 25 kN clamping force and hardly creates any jaw and component lift-off, will also be available with a center jaw. The advantage of this is that two finished parts or blanks can now be clamped simultaneously and without pre-stamping, making setup twice as fast. The new gripper mounting holes and an endutec automation interface also make the vice suitable for use in an automated environment.

But this is not all. The Hoffmann Group has also expanded the Garant Xtric range by four new base lengths. For the first time, the Garant Xtric is also available in size XS with a base length of just 136 mm for processing small components. This means sizes XS, S and M are now available in a jaw width of 80 mm. In addition to this there are new vices with a jaw width of 125 mm, 32 kN clamping force and a length of up to 270 mm in the sizes XS, S and M. All models are alternatively available with pivot jaws. This means the customer can choose between six vice sizes, which are each available in two variants.

The Garant Xtric can be converted into a double vice quickly and easily: The user simply has to change the standard spindle bearing and insert the center jaw. The jaws, which can be rotated 180 degrees and interchanged precisely to the micrometer, are then put back in place. Thanks to the click mechanism, this is performed in no time at all, and with Garant gripper jaws, blanks can be clamped without pre-stamping. Top jaws suitable for the “Lang” system are also available. All models are equipped with an endutec automation interface, which can be used as a coolant hole, as well as gripper mounting holes on both sides as standard. This makes them suited to a wide range of automation strategies.

In addition, the arant Xtric offers the following for attachment to the machine table: longitudinal slots, holes for the “Lang” positioning system with a pitch of 52 or 96 mm, as well as adapter plates for clamping on the Garant Zero Clamp zero-point system or other zero-point clamping systems.

  • centering

    centering

    1. Process of locating the center of a workpiece to be mounted on centers. 2. Process of mounting the workpiece concentric to the machine spindle. See centers.

  • coolant

    coolant

Fluid that reduces temperature buildup at the tool/workpiece interface during machining. Normally takes the form of a liquid such as soluble or chemical mixtures (semisynthetic, synthetic) but can be pressurized air or other gas. Because of water’s ability to absorb great quantities of heat, it is widely used as a coolant and vehicle for various cutting compounds, with the water-to-compound ratio varying with the machining task. See cutting fluid; semisynthetic cutting fluid; soluble-oil cutting fluid; synthetic cutting fluid.

    micrometer

A precision instrument with a spindle moved by a finely threaded screw that is used for measuring thickness and short lengths.
