Makino announces the latest addition to its next-generation series of horizontal machining centers, the a71nx. This horizontal machine platform extends the capabilities of the original a71 with a host of brand-new features and technologies, including an expanded work envelope, improved ergonomics, increased spindle torque, innovative tool monitoring, advanced motion controls and the new Professional 6 control.

Back in 2014, Kennametal announced a technology partnership with Haimer for the development of a modular cutting tooling system. Since that time, the company has been busy developing, testing, and building inventory of DUO-LOCK, which promised even then to be “the most rigid and most precise interface in the marketplace.”
Today it’s even better.

C.R.Onsrud introduces a hybrid of traditional milling technology with the productivity of high-speed machining. This American-made 5-axis machining center is configured with dual tables eliminating load unload time. It also has the capability to electronically lock the two tables together for machining of large parts.

Sandvik Hyperion's BZN V-Series PCBN grades provide versatility in three key aspects of machining of hardened ferrous materials. First, the grades are able to work in case hardened, bearing steels, powder metal alloy steels, and tool steels.

Sandvik Hyperion's carbide grade AM70 is an advanced substrate developed to increase machining productivity and performance in titanium and ISO M materials. The AM70 grade is comprised of a combination of submicron carbide grains that provide the perfect mix of toughness and wear resistance.

Doosan Machine Tools America introduced a series of large capacity, ram-type vertical turning centers. The series is comprised of the PUMA VTR1216 and the PUMA VTR1216M, which is equipped with an additional spindle for milling, providing convenient, efficient mill-turn capabilities on one machine tool platform.

MK Tools solid-carbide round tools from Monaghan Tooling Group introduces new "Speed-Drill R4" geometry, reportedly offering unparalleled cutting speeds and unprecedented tool life when cutting gray cast iron, ductile iron and forged steel, which are popular materials in automotive engine and chassis components. With a new corner radius design which is tangential to the drill point but nontangential to the diameter, these proven designs address challenging, high production drilling applications.

Kern Precision says its Micro 5-axis milling machine does not only tout its reliability and precision, but also the size of its footprint, the capacity of its palletized toolchanger, its plug-and-play capability, its power and its versatility in terms of the size of workpiece it can accommodate.

Walter says it has unveiled a technology that promises to dramatically improve machining effectiveness. Called Tiger·tec Gold, it is the latest iteration of Walter’s successful line of Tiger·tec and Tiger·tec Silver coatings.

Walter has introduced its new Prototyp Advance line of solid-carbide milling tools for universal application. The new Advance milling cutter line consisting of six cutter types and 250 line items, each reportedly providing the ideal balance of hardness and toughness for the widest possible application, plus long tool life (increases of up to 50 percent) thanks to the Advance line’s new high-performance WJ30TF grade and Walter’s TiAIN coating.
