Tool manufacturer Pokolm Frästechnik describes the latest addition to its milling cutter portfolio as the high-performance milling system for roughing and prefinishing applications in the field of high-feed machining. With FOURWORX, milling specialist POKOLM claims a multitude of interesting properties that will enable users to advance into previously unattainable realms of performance.

Walter has added to its range of solid-carbide milling cutters with the introduction of its MC232 Perform product line. This versatile, cost-effective new cutter type is available with 2, 3 or 4 flutes, in a diameter range of 1/8 in. to 5/8 in. (2 to 20 mm).

Power, speed, tactics, stamina – successful boxers need to bring together many different characteristics to emerge victorious from the ring. New from Sumitomo Electric Carbide Inc. is the TSX series tangential milling cutter that is designed for exceptionally efficient shoulder milling. For stable, highly efficient machining at high feed rates, the TSX series is engineered with a tough and sharp cutting edge, according to the company. It provides the strength required for increased depths of cut ranging from a small job to a heavy-duty roughing application.

Fast and reliable milling of stainless steel, titanium, heat-resistant alloys or even CrC alloys is a huge challenge for many machine operators and tool manufacturers. To overcome the challenge, the Swiss cutting tool manufacturer Mikron Tool launched CrazyMill Cool, a product family that promises a valuable solution in a diameter range from 0.3 mm (0.012”) to 8 mm (0.315”). The symbiosis of an especially innovative insert geometry, with the proven carbide and an extremely smooth and wear-resistant coating, guarantees long tool life when it comes to finishing vertical and plain surfaces, according to the company.

A portable pipe beveling tool for preparing torched-off or rough cut pipe ends and making them square to help create high-integrity welded pipe joints is available from Esco Tool. The Terminator MILLHOG pipe beveling tool attaches to the ID and features a tracker which compensates for variations in the pipe’s wall thickness to maintain a precision bevel and has a dual-spring safety hanger to simplify the alignment of larger pipe.

Squareworx is a multifunctional milling system from POKOLM for machining with both 90° and 45° approach angles and only a single insert. One insert is thus enough to perform square shoulder, slotting, face and chamfering milling operations.

Engineered for use with the standard CMT toolholder (S35 type), Carmex’s new high-performance milling head uses multiple indexable inserts for threading, grooving, chamfering and facing. With a cutting diameter of 41mm, a thread pitch of up to 4mm and a groove depth to 9mm, CMT accepts four triple-edged round profile inserts for high precision and enhanced performance.
