Samag Multiple-Spindle Machining Centers

German Machine Tools of America (GMTA) offers a full line of Samag multispindle machining centers and deep-hole drilling machines to the North American market. Samag, based in Saalfeld, Germany, with offices and service centers worldwide, engineers and builds a variety of multispindle machines, the MFZ series for high-volume cubic work pieces and the modular WBM series for rotary parts and shafts with up to six-spindle deep-drilling capabilities.

DT-2 and DM-2 machining centers

Haas Automation recently expanded its drill, tap and mill product line with a pair of high-speed, lean-style machining centers—the DT-2 and DM-2—that reportedly provide the same high acceleration rates, fast axis speeds and short tool change times as their smaller brethren. Yet, the new machines offer an additional 8" (203mm) of X-axis travel and table length, with only a slight increase in footprint.

MILLAC VII Series machining centers

The MILLAC VII Series of vertical machining centers from Okuma America Corp., Charlotte, N.C., represents the pinnacle of large VMCs with high rigidity, heavy cutting ability and high operability, according to a Jan. 29 company news release. The VMC series is said to feature a strong base column construction with optimally placed ribs to counter chatter and twisting during heavy-duty cutting. In addition, traditional box ways are used for all axes to provide high accuracy and rigidity over the long term.

Measuring Centers

Klingelnberg was prominent in bringing high-precision measurement machines from the test room onto the shop floor, thus essentially propelling the realization of efficiency concepts in manufacturing lines. Now, the company has implemented an own assembly line for five series of precision measuring centers in Hueckeswagen, Germany. The logistics concept was developed and implemented by STROTHMANN.
