DS4C copper-impregnated EDM graphite material

March 01, 2015

Mersen USA Inc. says its DS4C copper-impregnated EDM graphite material provides ultralow electrical conductivity, ultrahigh thermal conductivity and improves machinability, thereby enhancing ultrafine detail. Created using the company's micrograin DarkStar technology, the material stabilizes EDMing when vaporizing challenging alloys and carbides.

    alloys

Substances having metallic properties and being composed of two or more chemical elements of which at least one is a metal.

    electrical-discharge machining ( EDM)

Process that vaporizes conductive materials by controlled application of pulsed electrical current that flows between a workpiece and electrode (tool) in a dielectric fluid. Permits machining shapes to tight accuracies without the internal stresses conventional machining often generates. Useful in diemaking.

  • machinability

    machinability
