Cimtech 310

April 01, 2011

CIMTECH 310 from Cimcool Fluid Technology, a low-pH synthetic fluid designed to meet the stringent requirements of the automotive and aerospace industries, has become the standard metalworking fluid for many manufacturers. The product passes all bi-metallic and aluminum (7075) "sandwich" corrosion tests, the company reports.

CIMTECH 310 is recommended for machining and grinding operations, including creep feed grinding on non-ferrous or ferrous metals. Designed for moderate- to heavy-duty operations, CIMTECH 310 is low-foaming and provides excellent rancidity control, extending the life of the fluid and minimizing the need for additives.

CIMTECH 310 offers unmatched lubricity providing long tool life and outstanding surface finish; it is transparent, offering the machine operator uninhibited part visibility; and is non-irritating to the skin.

Related Glossary Terms

  • feed

    feed

Rate of change of position of the tool as a whole, relative to the workpiece while cutting.

  • grinding

    grinding

Machining operation in which material is removed from the workpiece by a powered abrasive wheel, stone, belt, paste, sheet, compound, slurry, etc. Takes various forms: surface grinding (creates flat and/or squared surfaces); cylindrical grinding (for external cylindrical and tapered shapes, fillets, undercuts, etc.); centerless grinding; chamfering; thread and form grinding; tool and cutter grinding; offhand grinding; lapping and polishing (grinding with extremely fine grits to create ultrasmooth surfaces); honing; and disc grinding.

  • lubricity

    lubricity

Measure of the relative efficiency with which a cutting fluid or lubricant reduces friction between surfaces.

  • metalworking

    metalworking

Any manufacturing process in which metal is processed or machined such that the workpiece is given a new shape. Broadly defined, the term includes processes such as design and layout, heat-treating, material handling and inspection.

  • rancidity

    rancidity

Bacterial and fungal growths in water-miscible fluids that cause unpleasant odors, stained workpieces and diminished fluid life.
