igus hosts biannual vector awards.

In April 2014, igus Inc., East Providence, R.I., will hold its  biannual vector awards ceremony. The vector awards aim to recognize the most creative applications of the igus Energy Chain Systems. Participants can apply online to present their idea to the panel of judges, with the first, second and third prizes being awarded at the Hannover Trade Fair in Germany.

Anyone who put Energy Chain Systems to new uses is encouraged to enter the competition regardless of their industry. "The vector award is an extremely important part of our development work," explained Joseph Ciringione, national sales and product manager for igus Energy Chain Systems. "We use it to support innovations and promote new potential uses for Energy Chains.

Past winners have included a compact robot that loads and unloads presses, a treatment plant using the largest-ever plastic Energy Chain, a woodworking application using the 1,440° rotations of the igus TwisterBand, physiotherapeutic exercise trainers and mobile launch pads for rockets. The application deadline is February 15, 2014.
