Turning

GC4415 and GC4425 Steel Turning Grades

To increase their use for steel turning applications across the automotive, energy and general engineering sectors, the upgrade includes more insert shapes for each grade. Having access to the correct insert shape is vital for effective finishing and roughing operations, and the insert shape should be selected relative to the entering angle accessibility required of the tool.

Cermet Turning Inserts

High tool life is achieved thru WEP10C coated cermet grade with multilayer TiCN TiAlN PVD coating and fine cermet micro grain. The combination of edge preparation and grade also ensures dimensional stability over long periods of time, which boosts productivity in mass production

TungBore-Mini

TungBore-Mini is a multifunctional drilling and turning tool line that integrates the capabilities of drilling, OD, and ID turning tools. Its unique XOMU insert features an innovative geometry incorporating a large inclination angle on the cutting edge that produces light cutting, compared with standard ISO positive turning inserts that are typically used for ID turning or boring operations. In addition, TungBore-Mini’s insert and pocket have a dovetail interlocking design providing better insert clamping and stability than standard screw-down insert clamping, ensuring process security during various applications.

RCN Angle Encoders

When paired with an EIB 5211 sensor box, these new RCN encoders will transfer the temperature of the encoder and a direct-drive motor to the control in use.  This gives the user the ability to push the system to its thermal load limits which in turn increases production and cost efficiency.

TungCut Grooving Inserts

Two new grades have been added to TungCut to enhance its capacity in exotic materials: AH8005 insert grade, featuring strong coating adherence to its carbide substrate, eliminates notch wear that typically occurs during the machining of heat-resistant superalloys (HRSAs). New geometries include DGS inserts with 0.05 mm and 0.10 mm (.0002″ and .0004″) corner radii. These sharp cornered inserts allow lighter cutting and precision grooving/ parting-off of small parts advantageous in Swiss machine applications.

DHF 8000ST Five-Axis Machining Center

The nodding head spindle and direct-drive B-axis rotary table allow the DHF 8000ST to handle a complete range of machining and turning processes from roughing to finishing in a single setup. This ability to attack parts from all sides provides increased parts accuracy. In addition, the configuration makes quick work of multi-face workpieces and the 5-axis simultaneous machining of complex shapes.

EcoFilter Conveyor

The second generation EcoFilter® utilizes an innovative two-stage metal chip removal and coolant filtration design. A hinged steel belt conveyor handles primary removal of large chips. In a secondary process, a flow-through filtration cell separates fines from coolant. Heavy duty brushes attached to the bottom side of the belt wipe these fines from the surface of the filter cell, where they flow to the bottom of the conveyor via the patent pending CleanCleat®. Standard angle cleats on the bottom run of the conveyor belt then scrape the separated fine chips back to the top of the belt for discharge.

GC4415 and GC4425 Carbide Inserts

GC4415 and GC4425 are ideal for manufacturers operating in mass and batch production setups machining low-alloyed (P 2.1 to 2.6) and unalloyed (P 1.1 to 1.5) steels, respectively. Grade GC4425 has been shown to outperform competing inserts in a majority of steel turning applications. It features improved wear, heat resistance and toughness, which significantly expands the application range. Both it and GC4415 can be used from finishing to roughing in applications with continuous cuts and light interruptions.
