Open Mind Technologies has introduced hyperMILL 2020.1, a new version of its advanced, comprehensive CAD/CAM software suite. In addition to powerful 3D and 5-axis machining enhancements for complex part manufacture, the new version increases ease-of-use and overall programming performance, and includes key new automation and additive manufacturing strategies.

As products grow thinner and lighter to meet the needs of the electronics, medical and micromechanics industries, United Grinding and Ewag have developed the Laser Line Ultra for machining the incredibly precise microtools required for these applications. Specializing in the laser fabrication of cutting tools made of hard and ultrahard materials such as tungsten carbide, PCD, chemical vapor deposition diamond and CBN, the Laser Line Ultra uses an 8-axis configuration and picosecond lasers to machine complex micro geometries in cutting tools regardless of the material’s hardness and with negligible heat-affected zones.

Tungaloy has expanded its Tung-AluMill line of indexable shoulder milling cutters to include an insert with a 2.5 mm (0.1") nose radii.

The latest release of SURFCAM features toolpath associativity for the facemill cycle, the option to extend the solution’s parallel lace toolpath, enhanced additive undercutting, and a total of about 30 updates. Alongside the new SURFCAM 2020.1, the optional CAD for CAM Designer module has now replaced Part Modeler.

Open Mind Technologies AG announced it offers an Additive Manufacturing capability option in hyperMILL CAM software to support 3D printing and additive processes. hyperMILL together with additive option also provides efficient hybrid processing with simultaneous additive and subtractive processing on one machine.

Walter has introduced the MC232 Perform line of solid-carbide milling cutters. These milling cutters, the latest addition to Walter’s cost-effective Perform product range, feature a corner radius and reduced neck. Solid-carbide milling cutters with corner radii allow improved approaches to individual component geometries.

Tungaloy expands its TungThinSlit line of indexable slot milling cutters to include inserts that feature F (sharp) cutting edge preparation. The TungThinSlit slot milling cutter consists of indexable inserts with a unique structure.

SMW Autoblok introduces the WPS/APS workpiece positioning system featuring manual zero point clamping system used in a variety of machining applications, including turning, milling, inspection and finishing.
