Milling Cutters

First Choice Inovatools Cutting Tools

Tool manufacturer Inovatools supports the metalworking industry with a wide range of tools for all manner of cutting challenges. With its First Choice Inovatools, the tool specialist from Haunstetten near Kinding in Germany is now giving users the opportunity to find tailor-made tools for their specific cutting requirement quickly and easily. One example is machining stainless steel.

Double Quattromill14 Facemilling Cutter

Shops with lower horsepower machines can maximize their facemilling operations with the new Seco Tools Double Quattromill14 facemilling cutter. For cost effectiveness and increased depths of cut in roughing, semifinishing and finishing, the cutter uses double-sided inserts with eight cutting edges and represents a smaller version of the company's Double Quattromill 22 cutter, which targets those machines with higher horsepower and torque.

Xtra·tec XT Milling Tools

Walter has introduced its next generation of milling tools: the Xtra·tec XT (Xtended Technology). Designed to achieve increased productivity and process reliability, this new generation of milling cutters is being launched with initial offerings of shoulder milling cutters and a facemilling cutter. The mills cover virtually all requirements in shoulder and slot milling in all common material groups.

M5Q90 Tangential Milling Cutter

To boost the first-stage roughing operation on newly cast aluminum parts for the automotive industry, cutting tool and tooling systems specialist Sandvik Coromant is introducing its M5Q90 tangential milling cutter. Designed to complete "cubing" (first machining of faces after casting) in a single operation without creating burrs, the new tool is fitted with PCD tangential inserts that provide a smooth and stable cutting action to lower power consumption and eliminate vibration. This concept ensures reliable performance, improved tool life, exceptional surface finish, high metal-removal rate and an increased number of parts per insert.

M5F90 Facemill

Designed for machining thin-walled aluminum automotive parts without burring, scratching or chipping, the patent-pending M5F90 facemilling cutter is being released by Sandvik Coromant. The two-in-one M5F90 cutter features an design that allows roughing and finishing in a single operation, delivering shorter and more efficient machining strategies.

Large LP09 Inserts for HighFeed 2 Cutter Bodies

To eliminate long face milling cycle times and ensure process security, Seco Tools has introduced new larger LP09 inserts for the company's HighFeed 2 cutter bodies. The new inserts are designed for high-feed milling operations including face, helical interpolation, slotting, side milling, pocketing and plunging, in challenging workpieces often found in the mold and die, aerospace, and oil and gas industries.

EDGE2 DSS Milling System

The new EDGE2 DSS system from DAPRA Corp. was engineered to deliver both premium 90° milling performance and indexable milling value. Double-sided DSS inserts provide four usable cutting edges to significantly lower cost-per-edge versus single-sided inserts, and DAPRA’s permanent automatic cutter replacement program makes it easier for shops to keep good-condition tools in use rather than making do with worn-out cutters.

GC4330 and GC4340 Insert Grades

Cutting tool and tooling systems specialist Sandvik Coromant is launching GC4330 and GC4340, two new insert grades for steel milling. With the development of advanced production technologies, such as a new substrate, Inveio coating and an improved post-treatment technology, the new grades provide great opportunities to substantially increase tool life and process security compared to the previous generation of grades, GC4230 and GC4240, which will now be superseded.
