Custom Retention Knobs

All TJ Davies custom retention knobs are manufactured from American-made 8620 alloy steel which has a high tensile strength to withstand strong centrifugal force, high load force, high feed rate, and difficult to machine material. All knobs are machined in-house with single point threading to Imperial (Class 2A UNC) or Metric (Class G6) standards. After threading is completed, each component is heat treated to 58-62 HRC then treated with hot black oxide to military specifications for protection against corrosion. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and then pull tested to 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar it is designed for.

Hand Wheels and Cranks

The hand wheels come equipped with fixed handles, revolving handles or no handles. Handwheels are made of a variety of materials such as cast iron, aluminum, Duroplast plastic, stainless steel and finished including chrome plated and powder baked. Cranks are available in a straight or offset style. They are available in cast iron and high-density thermoplastic, in either a revolving or folding handle style.

Handwheels

Stainless steel, cast iron and aluminium handwheels each have their unique safety features. Stainless steel is naturally resistant to bacterial growth, making it the ideal choice for hygiene-sensitive areas. Cast-iron handwheels, when coasted with zinc or chrome, offer protection against corrosion. Aluminium handwheels, on the other hand, are known for their lightweight nature and resistance to rust, which can be especially beneficial in environments where weight and longevity are factors.

Aluminium Clevis Forks

The forks’ anodised coating adds protection against corrosion, and the black finish is ideal for installation in optically sensitive environments. This enables the new clevis forks to blend in with engine bays and machines, and the linkages are also ideal for installation in theatre sets where the black coating obscures them from audience view.

Threaded Lathe Sleeves

Across the general machining industry, customers are able to directly plumb in an external coolant line to the back of the sleeve using a standard ½ NPT or ½ BSP pipe fitting. This also gives users the option to adapt external high-pressure pumps directly to a turret station to maximize pressure and flow for long/deep holes.

6061 Aluminium Shaft Collars

The aluminium collars are much easier to machine compared to steel. This more readily enables customization, a requirement if the collar needs to fit specific shaft designs or dimensions, either for retrofit or new machine builds. Along with this capability, aluminium shares a similar anti-corrosion performance to stainless steel, ensuring increased durability.

V-TYPE Lever

The V-TYPE lever's fixing flanges are engineered to be identical to those of traditional models, ensuring that new housings with the V-TYPE can replace the old version without affecting interchangeability or requiring changes to dimensions, flanges, or mounting positions. The V-TYPE lever is offered in both bulkhead and surface-mounted configurations, with a single lever available for size 44.27 and double levers available for sizes 57.27, 77.27, and 104.27.

Anti-Vibration Mounts

The industrial standard mounts can be used across heavy-duty factory equipment, through to commercial applications and the marine sector. Providing the mounts as a complete kit speeds up parts specification and enhances ease of installation. With male and female threaded mounts, the new installation kit format comprises bolts in diameters from M3 to M12, as well as various shaft lengths to suit a variety of applications.
