Millhog Cutter Blades

A wide range of cutter blades for its full line of portable pipe beveling machines that pull a thick chip without cutting oils to promote high weld integrity has been introduced by Esco Tool. Esco MILLHOG cutter blades feature sharp edges and a radical chip breaker that can bevel the pipe OD, flat face and bore the ID sumultaneously without cutting oils.

Available in 37-1/2° and 30° standard OD angles or any angle of prep from 10°, plus compound bevels, they are made from T-15 tool steel and are TiN-coated for extended blade life or are hard lube for superior heat resistance and longer blade life on highly alloyed materials.

Ideal for heavy-wall pipe made of Super Duplex stainless steel, P-91, and other hard super-alloys, Esco Millhog cutter blades mount securely in the tools using the EscoLock  wedge-style rigid blade lock system. These cutter blades are available for the entire line of Millhog pipe milling end prep tools for tube and pipe from 0.5” ID to 36” OD.

Related Glossary Terms

  • flat ( screw flat)

    flat ( screw flat)

Flat surface machined into the shank of a cutting tool for enhanced holding of the tool.

  • gang cutting ( milling)

    gang cutting ( milling)

Machining with several cutters mounted on a single arbor, generally for simultaneous cutting.

  • inner diameter ( ID)

    inner diameter ( ID)

Dimension that defines the inside diameter of a cavity or hole. See OD, outer diameter.

  • milling

    milling

Machining operation in which metal or other material is removed by applying power to a rotating cutter. In vertical milling, the cutting tool is mounted vertically on the spindle. In horizontal milling, the cutting tool is mounted horizontally, either directly on the spindle or on an arbor. Horizontal milling is further broken down into conventional milling, where the cutter rotates opposite the direction of feed, or “up” into the workpiece; and climb milling, where the cutter rotates in the direction of feed, or “down” into the workpiece. Milling operations include plane or surface milling, endmilling, facemilling, angle milling, form milling and profiling.

  • outer diameter ( OD)

    outer diameter ( OD)

Dimension that defines the exterior diameter of a cylindrical or round part. See ID, inner diameter.
