Marubeni Citizen-Cincom announces ribbon cutting and open house

Marubeni Citizen-Cincom Inc. (MCC) announces a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration for its new technical center and showroom at 800 Silver St., Agawam, Massachusetts. The doors will open at 9 a.m. on March 9, 2020, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. An open house will follow to introduce the new L12 Type X and the new 12mm laser cutting and welding machine. A variety of Cincom sliding headstock and Miyano fixed headstock lathes will be on display as well. The event will also include technical seminars presented by Sandvik Coromant, Esprit and Gen Swiss.

The Cincom L12 is a state-of-the-art Swiss CNC automatic lathe manufactured by Citizen Machinery Co. The user-friendly editing function, which utilizes multiple-line multiple-axes programming, along with superimposed and synchronized control, make setting up the most complex jobs easy. The L12 also has a detachable guide bushing that allows for effective machining of both long and short workpieces. In addition, the new Type X features a modular tooling system and a Y2-axis on the back spindle which expands the range of usable tools.

The new 12mm laser cutting and welding machine employs the MCC L2000 laser system. The L2000 is completely interfaced to the L12 control with the cutting path and offsets fully managed and edited in the control. This allows for "program control" of all laser settings, adjustments, shapes and machining functions from a single program.

  • bushing

Cylindrical sleeve, typically made from high-grade tool steel, inserted into a jig fixture to guide cutting tools. There are three main types: renewable, used in liners that in turn are installed in the jig; press-fit, installed directly in the jig for short production runs; and liner (or master), installed permanently in a jig to receive renewable bushing.

  • computer numerical control ( CNC)

    computer numerical control ( CNC)

Microprocessor-based controller dedicated to a machine tool that permits the creation or modification of parts. Programmed numerical control activates the machine’s servos and spindle drives and controls the various machining operations. See DNC, direct numerical control; NC, numerical control.

  • lathe

Turning machine capable of sawing, milling, grinding, gear-cutting, drilling, reaming, boring, threading, facing, chamfering, grooving, knurling, spinning, parting, necking, taper-cutting, and cam- and eccentric-cutting, as well as step- and straight-turning. Comes in a variety of forms, ranging from manual to semiautomatic to fully automatic, with major types being engine lathes, turning and contouring lathes, turret lathes and numerical-control lathes. The engine lathe consists of a headstock and spindle, tailstock, bed, carriage (complete with apron) and cross slides. Features include gear- (speed) and feed-selector levers, toolpost, compound rest, lead screw and reversing lead screw, threading dial and rapid-traverse lever. Special lathe types include through-the-spindle, camshaft and crankshaft, brake drum and rotor, spinning and gun-barrel machines. Toolroom and bench lathes are used for precision work; the former for tool-and-die work and similar tasks, the latter for small workpieces (instruments, watches), normally without a power feed. Models are typically designated according to their “swing,” or the largest-diameter workpiece that can be rotated; bed length, or the distance between centers; and horsepower generated. See turning machine.

  • modular tooling

    modular tooling

    1. Tooling system comprised of standardized tools and toolholders. 2. Devices that allow rapid mounting and replacement of tools. Commonly used with carousel toolchangers and other computerized machining operations. See toolchanger; toolholder.
