Colibri Spindles Ltd.MachiningCloud Inc., Camarillo, Calif., and Colibri Spindles Ltd., Lavon, Israel, have partnered to provide Colibri Spindles product data in the cloud. Colibri Spindles develops and manufactures high-speed spindle technology and solutions. MachiningCloud is a product data provider for cutting tools, CNC machines and workholding.

MachiningCloud represents a new channel through which Colibri Spindles will provide customers with the digital product data needed to run today's data-hungry shop software. This partnership will simplify the process of finding the right spindles, as well as cutting tools, for customers' manufacturing jobs as customers will have direct access to current, complete tooling data without having to search printed catalogs and multiple websites to find ideal tooling.

"What's really important is that Colibri's exclusive high-speed spindle technology has a proven impact on our customers' profitability," said Colibri Spindles CEO Sharon Weiss. "Utilizing both coolant power and high speed greatly enhances performance by significantly cutting down on machining time, improving surface quality and extending tool life."

"We are excited for Colibri customers as they will experience even greater speed and accuracy when performing their manufacturing jobs," said Christophe Rogazy, director of product management at MachiningCloud. "Having quick access to Colibri's unique spindle features will ensure optimum cutting conditions."

  • computer numerical control ( CNC)

    computer numerical control ( CNC)

Microprocessor-based controller dedicated to a machine tool that permits the creation or modification of parts. Programmed numerical control activates the machine’s servos and spindle drives and controls the various machining operations. See DNC, direct numerical control; NC, numerical control.

  • coolant

    coolant

Fluid that reduces temperature buildup at the tool/workpiece interface during machining. Normally takes the form of a liquid such as soluble or chemical mixtures (semisynthetic, synthetic) but can be pressurized air or other gas. Because of water’s ability to absorb great quantities of heat, it is widely used as a coolant and vehicle for various cutting compounds, with the water-to-compound ratio varying with the machining task. See cutting fluid; semisynthetic cutting fluid; soluble-oil cutting fluid; synthetic cutting fluid.
