Cutting Tools

The world of Tungaloy -- a corporate overview

This corporate video offers an overview of Tungaloy Corp.'s origins and growth since its inception in 1929. Among the world’s leading manufacturers of carbide cutting tools, friction materials, wear resistant items, and civil engineering products, Tungaloy provides products to customers all over the world in automobile, construction, aerospace, medical, power generation, infrastructure, and heavy industries.

Making your own cutting tool

When making a cutting tool, I tend to think of a drill, endmill or other metalcutting tool being produced on a CNC tool and cutter grinder in a factory. A book by Bradley Richardson, however, describes how to make a different type of cutting tool with manual tools and equipment in a nonproduction environment. Published by Fox Chapel Publishing Co. Inc., Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, “Making Your Own Bush Knife: A Beginner’s Guide for the Backyard Knifemaker,” details the process of creating a custom knife.

Only One Focus: Getting the Job Done

The video proves the point—YG-1’s ONLY ONE end mill provides superior cutting performance to cut where others can’t.  Watch how coated carbide breaks down halfway through the cut and witness how HSS CO8 can’t stand the heat and stops dead in its tracks. And when it comes to unstable cutting conditions, the coated PM 60 ONLY ONE, stands up where brittle carbide breaks down. Need a tool to handle tough materials—see how the ONLY ONE can be your best investment at up to 30% less than the cost of carbide.

Mechanical Joining Tools

Monaghan Tooling Group introduces their Mechanical Joining Tools, which join tubing to flanges and fittings, creating secure, leak-proof joints that withstand up to 20,000 lbs. of hydrostatic pressure. Superior to welded, brazed or crimped joints, mechanically joined parts will not leak, pull apart, or loosen due to pressure, vibration, or temperature changes.
