MILLHOG Tube Weasel Air-Clamp Beveling Tool

An upgraded pipe beveler featuring pneumatic clamping with a new motor and gearing that produces low rpm and high torque to pull a thick chip without cutting fluids has been introduced by Esco Tool.

The MILLHOG Tube Weasel air-clamp beveling tool is a right angle ID clamping tool that fits easily between waterwall boiler tubes to perform precision bevels. Featuring a 1.1-hp motor and robust gearing that runs at 125 rpm with high torque to pull a thick chip without cutting fluids, it has a pneumatic clamp that reduces operator fatigue and speeds throughput.

Capable of improving cycle times by up to 600 percent, the MILLHOG Tube Weasel air-clamp beveling tool has a self-centering draw rod, which rigidly mounts into a tube or pipe ID and retracts from the mandrel automatically after milling to minimize friction. Suitable for 0.75” ID to 3” OD pipes, it can be used in any orientation to perform repetitive welding end preps.

Related Glossary Terms

  • fatigue

    fatigue

Phenomenon leading to fracture under repeated or fluctuating stresses having a maximum value less than the tensile strength of the material. Fatigue fractures are progressive, beginning as minute cracks that grow under the action of the fluctuating stress.

  • gang cutting ( milling)

    gang cutting ( milling)

Machining with several cutters mounted on a single arbor, generally for simultaneous cutting.

  • inner diameter ( ID)

    inner diameter ( ID)

Dimension that defines the inside diameter of a cavity or hole. See OD, outer diameter.

  • mandrel

    mandrel

Workholder for turning that fits inside hollow workpieces. Types available include expanding, pin and threaded.

  • milling

    milling

Machining operation in which metal or other material is removed by applying power to a rotating cutter. In vertical milling, the cutting tool is mounted vertically on the spindle. In horizontal milling, the cutting tool is mounted horizontally, either directly on the spindle or on an arbor. Horizontal milling is further broken down into conventional milling, where the cutter rotates opposite the direction of feed, or “up” into the workpiece; and climb milling, where the cutter rotates in the direction of feed, or “down” into the workpiece. Milling operations include plane or surface milling, endmilling, facemilling, angle milling, form milling and profiling.

  • outer diameter ( OD)

    outer diameter ( OD)

Dimension that defines the exterior diameter of a cylindrical or round part. See ID, inner diameter.
