MSC Industrial Supply Co., a distributor of metalworking and maintenance, repair and operations solutions, services and supplies to industrial customers throughout the United States and Canada, announced the grand opening of its co-headquarters in Davidson, N.C. MSC celebrated the occasion on Sept. 24 with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by elected officials, business partners, associates and community representatives.

Based in Melville, N.Y., the company announced in June 2012 that it would be co-locating its headquarters in Davidson, a move that will help support the future expansion of MSC's business.

"The investments we are making in MSC are going to ensure a strong growth path well into the future.  We looked long and hard to find a place that would serve us well along that path and Davidson fit all of our criteria," said Erik Gershwind, President and Chief Executive Officer of MSC.  "The entire Charlotte-Mecklenberg region offers an experienced talent pool, a strong commitment to the vitality of the business community and a wonderful place for our associates to have some fun and raise their families.  We are excited to officially join the Davidson community and thank former Governor Beverly Perdue, Davidson Mayor John Woods and everyone else in the community who helped to make this happen for MSC."

The new six-story facility spans 180,000 square feet and has the capacity for 750 associates, with room to expand on the property in the future. The Davidson office will include associates who specialize in all areas of MSC's business, including corporate positions, which range from management, IT, finance, human resources, product management, digital marketing and communications. The company currently has about 150 associates in the Davidson offices with plans to hire an additional 50 associates before the end of 2014. In addition to Davidson, MSC employs around 230 people in North Carolina across the following regions: Asheville, Camp Lejeune, Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh.

"We are pleased to welcome MSC to Davidson and look forward to their continued contributions to the region's workforce," said Davidson Mayor John Woods. "The addition of MSC to our strong business community is a testament to the State's valuable resources, including a strong talent pool, which continue to help businesses thrive."

MSC currently employs one of the industry's largest sales forces, distributes more than 1,000,000 industrial products from over 3,000 suppliers and provides inventory management solutions to over 300,000 customers.
