December 2013 - Mitsubishi Materials USA's new 5000 series grades are for Cast Iron turning; MC5005 and MC5015. MC5005's ultra-thick layer of aluminum oxide enhances wear and chipping resistance. MC5015 has improved coating layer strength providing toughness in severe interrupted cutting.

To increase efficiencies of the new CVD coated grades MC5005 and MC5015, Mitsubishi Materials has a line of new chip breakers designed to optimize these two new grades. Chip Breakers LK, MK and RK have reportedly been designed to insure maximum performance for metal cutting applications.
