Strausak manufacturing returns to USA

CNC tool grinding machine builder Strausak AG, Lohn-Ammannsegg, Switzerland, opened a subsidiary in Mundelein, Ill., and incorporated in the state of Illinois on July 1. Hank Ecker, previously regional sales manager of Rollomatic Inc., is the new president of Strausak Inc.

Rollomatic Holding, LeLanderon, Switzerland acquired Strausak in 2011. Strausak builds CNC tool grinding machines such as the 5-axis Fleximat. Strausak was one of the first users of the NUM control and Numroto tool grinding software, according to the company. Strausak began delivering NC tool grinders in the early 1980s and completed the first design and delivery of a production machine for the automated manufacturing of watch parts in 1927.

Ecker will manage the new subsidiary, overseeing machine installations, customer training and grinding demonstrations. Ecker was selected based on his extensive experience in CNC tool grinding, both in manufacturing and sales, as well as his support-oriented sales approach and strategic mindset, according to the company.

Strausak Inc. will draw on resources from Rollomatic and will provide service and support from Rollomatic North American headquarters in Mundelein.
