Merger creates Sandvik Hyperion

On Jan. 1, Diamond Innovations merged with Sandvik Hard Materials to create a new business, Sandvik Hyperion, focused on applied materials. The new company, with U.S. headquarters in Fair Lawn, N.J., has a broader portfolio of materials solutions and increased scale in R&D and application development. Sandvik Hyperion supplies cemented tungsten carbide, tungsten-carbide powders, diamond materials and CBN materials used in material-removal and wear-protection applications.

The company has production capabilities in powder processing, sintering, high-pressure and high-temperature synthesis, coating and finishing, with locations in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Sandvik Hyperion also offers CBN and diamond grinding products. Johan Israelsson, president of Sandvik Hyperion, said, "We aim to be the most reliable and technologically leading hard and superhard materials company. We engage with customers to apply our materials and application knowledge to develop customized products and solutions for superior performance and reliability."
