Transor Filter president gets hockey puck to fan

Transor Filter President Irv Kaage made a fan’s day after she endured a painful injury during the first game of the recent Stanley Cup finals in Chicago between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins. When a deflected shot cleared the glass behind the net, it hit Dr. Patricia Higgins of Burr Ridge, Ill., and cut her across the bridge of her nose and right eyebrow.

She was taken to the hospital, and the cut required several internal and external stitches, but Higgins is expected to make a full recovery. She missed the rest of the game, which the Blackhawks won in overtime.

The errant puck was retrieved by Kaage, who was sitting just a few seats away. Working through the Blackhawk’s head office, he was able to make contact with Higgins and presented her with the puck.

He said in a TV interview: “I think she deserves it as a souvenir.”

Kaage is a big Chicago sports fan. His office is filled with memorabilia including old stadium seats, signed jerseys and autographs from his two favorite teams, the Chicago White Sox and Blackhawks.

Transor Filter, Elk Grove Village, Ill., provides filtration solutions for many manufacturing applications such as grinding, honing, lapping, super finishing and EDMing.
