Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology opens Mich. fixture facility

Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology announced the opening of a new facility in Novi, Mich., for manufacturing inspection fixtures for automotive stampings, body-in-white, underbody, rails, closures, and exterior/interior and under-hood plastic parts.

Carl Zeiss Fixture Systems continues to grow as a global supplier of purpose-built checking, SPC, attribute, optical (manual or robotic white light/blue light/laser), CMM holding and meisterbock (metal-match) fixtures for automotive OEMs and tier suppliers, according to the company.

Carl Zeiss Fixture Systems has operations in North America, Europe and Asia. Streamlining initial design, development and standardization processes allows Carl Zeiss to reduce costs while ensuring consistent and uniform production part quality globally, regardless of the customer’s manufacturing location, the company reports.

Chrysler Group uses meisterbocks from Carl Zeiss Fixture Systems at its Warren, Mich., and Saltillo, Mexico truck assembly plants. Both plants produce the Ram 1500, which was named 2013 North American Truck of the Year.

Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology’s main headquarters are in Oberkochen, Germany, with a U.S. headquarters in Maple Grove, Minn.
