Tool Turrets

Turret-Adapted Clamping Units

As machine tools become increasingly complex and the need to produce parts in less time grows, CNC lathe owners and managers must look to the latest technologies if they’re to improve shop floor efficiency. Isn’t it ironic then that one of the most productive of these solutions is far from new—in fact, it’s been a champion in the war on machine tool downtime for nearly three decades. It’s called KMTM Quick Change Tooling, and whether it’s an old friend, a complete stranger, or an acquaintance you met briefly and discounted, it’s time to take a long hard look at what it can do for your bottom line.

The CNC Chef: Turret vs. gang tooling for CNC lathes | Episode 5

Bob Warfield of the CNCCookbook walks through the benefits of turret versus gang tooling for CNC lathes in the fifth episode of The CNC Chef, a video series presented by Cutting Tool Engineering and CNCCookbook. Warfield offers some insight for those trying to decide which is best for a particular job in an article published in the July 2017 issue of Cutting Tool Engineering magazine.

TM series tool storage

“TM” series tool storage magazine assemblies are electro-mechanically driven and easy to install. They do not require any pneumatics or hydraulics, and, as such, are extremely reliable, repetitive and low maintenance. The bi-directional magazines are available in three standard frame sizes with or without a linear slide and designed to accommodate CAT 30, 40 and 50, plus the equivalent range of BT, ISO and HSK style toolholders, offered with standard storage capacities of 12, 20 or 30 tools with other capacities being available upon request.
