Greenleaf’s XSYTIN®-360 ceramic end mills combine Greenleaf’s phase-toughened XSYTIN®-1 substrate with a unique cutting geometry that offers ten times higher productivity and tremendous cost savings. The strength of the material allows users to apply chip loads similar to solid carbide end mills with higher speeds common to ceramic machining.

Designed for extreme drilling in steels, Guhring’s RT100 XF drill family delivers. The carbide grade developed for the RT100 XF balances hardness and toughness. Polished flutes improve chip evacuation, reducing machining temperature and protecting the cutting edges. The micro-geometry honing process ensures a uniform hone resulting in a stable and efficient cutting edge.

Overlapping inserts allow Ingersoll’s NuMaxILock to produce smooth chip formation at high-feed rates while high axial shear provides smooth chip formation. Tangentially mounted inserts with dovetailed seating provide greater cutter reliability and insert stability. End station insert corner radii (.031” to .250”) all fit the same cutter body with no cutter modifications needed.

Tungaloy’s TungFeed-Blade is an extremely rigid modular blade series for grooving and parting applications. TungFeed-Blade consists of a triangular CHGP style modular blade with three insert pockets which holds a CHTBR/L robust style tool block. Intended for high feed grooving and parting, the TungFeed-Blade system extends insert life, improves surface finish, and part straightness, while significantly reducing cycle time.

CNC Software Inc., Helical Solutions LLC and Makino Inc. — a software developer, cutting tool maker and machine builder, respectively — share the results of their joint R&D project that began with an email introducing a new high-efficiency six-flute endmill with a chipbreaker. This report, which demonstrates how a 40in³ material removal rate was achieved, is a video supplement to the Get With The Program column in the August 2021 issue of Cutting Tool Engineering magazine.
